Our Team

Now in their third year, the Territory team is looking eagerly to the future and the endeavors it holds. This year’s growth has opened the door to additional marketing offerings for collaborators, including a film commercial, neighborhood sponsorship, and more. The team is proud to announce the launch of Territory Truckee, California where they will continue to highlight the rebirth of small-town enterprise with Issue One releasing Fall 2024.

The Territory team is proud to showcase the people and businesses of Brevard, the unique mountain town they all call home. Deeply grateful for each collaborator, they are honored to tell their stories. Stop by their new office in the plaza on Broad Street to meet the team, shop the new line of merchandise, and learn more about the magazine.

Emrie Jackson

Editor-in-Chief Emrie Jackson’s passion about preserving the art of print (it is not dead!) has been the driving force of the publication since its inception. Combining her background in marketing and graphic design, her interest in the aesthetic of printed materials, and her love of Brevard, she founded Territory with a desire to share the stories that make up small-town communities.

George Carlton

Lead Photographer George Carlton was building a career in film before joining the Territory staff and pivoting to photography. The collaborative environment of the magazine is what drew him to the work; he enjoys capturing the personality of people in his photos and is passionate about forming lasting relationships with clients. Like Jackson, he loves this community — and every photo he takes reflects his fondness.

Rebecca Freeman

Project Manager Rebecca Freeman has a background in psychology. She worked in the mental health field before joining the Territory team and particularly enjoys getting to know the people and the stories behind the non-profits the magazine features. Rebecca grew up in the area and is passionate about the people and businesses that make Brevard what it is. Gifted with exceptional administrative skills, she loves keeping the team organized.

Ally Carlton

Ally Carlton took on the role of lead writer at the start of year three, after having edited Issues One and Two. She has a background in hospitality and customer service and moved to the area in 2015. She immediately fell in love with Brevard and has enjoyed getting to know people in the community over the last nine years.
